Dear MASH Wildcat Families,
I hope this message finds you and your family well and ready for a positive weekend ahead. I continue to be immensely proud of our students as we head closer to the end of marking period three which will be March 25th. While our primary efforts are in the continued mission for our students as they move the academic needle in the classrooms - our Wildcats are finding success in their athletic and extra-curriculars as well. Just this weekend alone, we have our Girls' Basketball team playing in their first round of States tonight Pennsbury HS. We have our indoor guard show this weekend at MASH. Our Speech and Debate Club is competing at the Mary Furlong Invitational at Delone Catholic High School and then again on March 20-21 at the PHSSL State Tournament. Great things are happening at MASH - and this is just a slither of the wonderful work occurring in our learning community.
Safety
The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority at all times. As you likely know by now through our district messaging that went out this morning, around 8:45 a.m. today (3/6), the fire alarm sounded and students and staff were safely evacuated, or temporarily held from entering the building, while administration and emergency personnel responded. Emergency crews determined that a small fire occurred within a piece of equipment (a flame hood) in a chemistry lab during a class experiment. The incident produced smoke that remained contained to that area within the hood but triggered the fire alarm. The situation was quickly addressed, no injuries were reported, and fire personnel ventilated the space. Students and staff were able to return to the building shortly afterward as the school day resumed. Our administrative team also reviews each situation carefully so we can learn from it and continue strengthening our safety procedures. As always, thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Current Junior / Rising Senior Dual Enrollment Meeting - Tuesday, March 10
As part of our programming at MASH, our seniors have the opportunity to take part in dual enrollment programs. This is one of many different options that exist for them their senior year. One of the sayings we have around MASH is that a student's senior year should look more and more like where they are heading next. It's an exciting season in their life! This Tuesday, March 10 during period 5 of Day 6, current juniors will have the option to receive more information about options that exist for their senior year. March is the ideal time for refinement of their schedule for next school year. We are making great progress on this front. You are always welcome to engage with our course catalogue as you have conversation with your child.
Semester Two Conferences - Thursday, March 12
Our registration process opened on March 2nd at 4pm. Feel free to access information here on how to sign-up for conferences which will be held this coming Thursday, March 12th from 3:30p.m. until 8:00p.m. We look forward to these important opportunities to connect and support student growth together.
Thank you for your continued support of our Wildcats. We are grateful for the strong partnership we share with our families and wish you a wonderful weekend ahead.
Sincerely,
Joseph P. Reidy
