Dear MASH Families,
We wrapped up a productive full week of school and are seeing positive momentum in our academic program. It has been great to see strong engagement and focus from our students. Winter extracurricular and athletic events are also in full swing - thank you for your continued support of these programs.
Please note that the next two weeks will each be four-day school weeks:
February 13 — Staff Only Day (no students)
February 16 — Presidents’ Day (no school)
MASH classes resume February 17
We will hold CREW period on Wednesday, February 11, with grade-level programming focused on course registration, the graduation project, and other important student planning topics.
Our monthly theme has focused on research-based strategies for overcoming challenges. This week’s morning messages highlighted ideas from Carol Dweck’s work on growth mindset, encouraging students to:
--See challenges as part of learning and growth
--Value effort as the builder of ability
--Treat mistakes as useful feedback
--Use the power of the word “yet”
--Make small, daily choices that support improvement
Some sample reminders shared with students included: “Becoming is better than being,” and “Not yet means you’re on a learning curve.”
Next week’s morning tips will come from Atomic Habits by James Clear, focusing on small habits that lead to lasting progress. Thank you for your partnership and support. We look forward to another strong week ahead.
Sincerely,
Joseph P. Reidy
