Dear MASH Wildcat Families,
We have just one more week remaining in February, and it continues to be a high-energy time of year at MASH. We are proud of the positive momentum we are seeing.
Deep Learning in Our Classrooms
In our classrooms, teachers are intentionally planning with a focus on deep learning. Students are being encouraged to see the bigger picture of their work—understanding not just what they are learning, but why it matters. We aim to connect our lessons to larger unit goals and help students apply their learning beyond a single assignment or assessment. When students understand purpose, their engagement and growth increase.
Supporting Students as They Process the World Around Them
This month, we have also spent time listening carefully to students as they process current national and regional issues. As events in the broader world prompt questions and emotions, our priority remains clear: student safety and a secure learning environment.
When students express a desire to raise awareness or take action, we meet with them, listen to their perspectives, and work alongside them to channel their voices through our established, school-sanctioned extracurricular programs. These structures allow students to express themselves thoughtfully and responsibly, with appropriate supervision and support.
We are proud of our students for engaging in respectful dialogue and for choosing constructive paths forward. Our goal is to help students navigate complex issues productively—while ensuring that MASH remains a place where every student feels safe, valued, and connected.
Activities & Events Across Campus
Many of our athletic teams and extracurricular groups are reaching the peak of their seasons and representing our community with pride. Today, students participated in optional board game lunches—an opportunity to step away from electronics and connect face-to-face with peers. We continue to explore the impact of personal electronics in the daily lives of our students and monitor their usage during the school day. This is a topic that I plan to update you on again this spring.
We are also preparing for our next Third in the Burg which is right after school today , 2/20, and next week our spring musical will take center stage, including our popular Dinner Theater event when our cafeteria is transformed into a performance venue for the evening. Please see the information below about how to sign-up for tickets for our Musical Production. There is so much positive progress occurring across all of our programs.
Semester Two Conferences
Semester Two Parent-Teacher Conferences are approaching. Our registration process will open on March 2nd, and more detailed information—including scheduling procedures—will be shared with families next week. We look forward to these important opportunities to connect and support student growth together.
Front of Building Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminder
We have seen positive progress in our front-of-building drop-off and pick-up procedures—thank you for your partnership. As a reminder, please continue to pull your vehicle forward as close to the stop sign as possible before allowing students to exit or enter. This helps us maintain efficient traffic flow and ensures a safe and smooth process for everyone.
Thank you for your continued support of our Wildcats. We are grateful for the strong partnership we share with our families and wish you a wonderful weekend ahead.
Sincerely,
Joseph P. Reidy
