👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 PTO Meeting

On Wednesday, September 10, we held our first PTO meeting of the school year. Thank you to the many families who joined us both in person and on Zoom! If you missed it, you can find the agenda in the PTO section below.

🇺🇸 Patriot Day

On Thursday, September 11, students and staff showed their patriotism by wearing red, white, and blue in honor of Patriot Day. Even our facility dog, Kosmo, joined in with a patriotic bandana!

🌾 Miss Cerio's Class Field Trip

On Friday, September 12, Miss Cerio's Classroom visited Paulus Farm Market in Mechanicsburg. Scroll down for some photo highlights!

🔴 Dot Day (Tomorrow!)

On Monday, September 15, we will celebrate Dot Day, inspired by The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. Students are encouraged to wear clothing with dots to school!

📜 Constitution Day

On Wednesday, September 17, students will take part in learning activities about the U.S. Constitution.

First graders started the school year learning how to move safely in open space while avoiding other’s personal space. This week we started our locomotor movements unit. Students are learning the difference between locomotor movements (movements that move your body from one place to another) and non-locomotor movements (moving your body while staying in the same place).

Second grade is working on using manipulatives (using hands, feet, and other body parts to move an object). They will be working on their underhand tossing skills through partner practice and different individual and team activities. (Tic Toc, step, and rock)

Third grade began their first unit on the 5 areas of Health-related fitness (Cardiovascular endurance, Muscular strength, Muscular endurance, Flexibility, and Body Composition). This week we talked about the difference between muscular strength and muscular endurance. They had an opportunity to practice these through different partner challenges as well as station work. They will participating in their first of three Pacer tests of the year at the end of the month.

Shep staff is busy starting to plan a new event at Shep - Wildcats Around the World! We will feature foods, crafts and games from many countries around the world. Our event date is scheduled for March 23, 2026. If you have interest in participating or learning more about this years event, please take a moment to fill out the interest form at the link below.
