Officer Mark with Student

We're excited to introduce our Shep families to Officer Mark Sanguinito, our new District Resource Officer. Officer Mark supports our Wildcats at Shepherdstown, Upper Allen and Mech Middle Schools.

We asked Officer Mark to tell us a little about himself!

  1. How long have you been working in law enforcement?

I have 12 years of Law Enforcement experience. I began working for Upper Allen PD in January 2013.

  2. What’s one thing you’d like families to know about your role in the schools?

I’d like families to know that my first priority will always be their child’s safety. Beyond that, I am most excited to build meaningful connections and relationships with students.

  3. What do you enjoy most about working in our schools?

I enjoy seeing the students’ genuine happiness when we get to exchange a hello, a high-five, or a fist bump. Being invited into a game of football or kickball at recess is a special bonding moment. I am appreciative of the teachers and administrators who invite me to give a safety presentation or host an informal classroom chat.

  4. What’s something fun you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and playing hockey and golf.

  5. What do you hope students think of when they see you around the building?

I want the students to be able to see me as a mentor, a trusted adult, and a friend, all while still knowing I am a uniformed police officer in the school.
